As a mom of 2, I promise I know how hard PP is and I don't want to add more onto your plate BUT there are some things we need to go over to prepare for your newborn session! Whether this is your first baby photoshoot or you're a seasoned pro at family photos, these should help you prepare for our session!
Lets start with...
What you DON'T need to worry about:
-I have all of the wraps, outfits, hats, headbands, props, backdrops that we need. (If you have something really unique and specific, I am happy to order props for the session, provided you let me know in time and book in advance.)
-I have a client closet (collection of PP friendly dresses, men's shirts, and children's outfits)
-I have all the tricks to help baby stay calm and sleepy
What do I need from YOU?
-Fill out the questionnaire so I can plan your session
-Dress baby in a zip up outfit (They get MAD when you pull stuff over their head LOL)
-Feed baby RIGHT BEFORE the session
-You are welcome to bring anything sentimental like military uniforms, wedding rings, stuffie etc.
About the studio & session flow
-My studio is connected to my home, but is stricty used for photography sessions and cleaned between clients.
-There is no restroom in studio, please make sure kiddos go before you arrive! I apologize for any inconvenience.
-I may use a space heater to keep baby warm, so the studio warms up. Please dress comfortably!
-I use your questionnaire to plan the session and select props but if you see me using a prop that you don't love, please just let me know during the session!
-I will always start with family photos! Since the session can be lengthy, siblings are welcome to head out afterwards with a partner or family member.
-For family photos, I offer a "lifestyle" set and a more traditional option.
Family Photos
-The lifestyle set is more relaxed, I still pose you, it is just more casual. (view below)
I recommend earthy neutrals and jewel tones in your wardrobe for these. There will be detail shots so make sure you like your nails, hair etc.
-The Traditional Backdrops are more posed, and give a timeless feel. (view below)
I recommend monochoromic wardrobe for these. Please select between black, white, and tan for wardrobe. There will be detail shots so make sure you like your nails, hair etc.
What NOT to wear
-There are a few things I always advise against, regardless of the session type you pick!
No apple watches (can you say spy kid?) hair ties, etc. I can fix tan lines
Avoid big logos
Avoid bra straps showing
Avoid super bright colors that will reflect onto your skin
Lastly, please don't stress. I know this season of life is rough, I know you're tired, I want this to be a peaceful experience in the mist of the chaos. I have many clients tell me later that they don't even remember the session but they do remember how I made them feel. I am honored to be your babies first photographer. I will handle them with all the care in the world. I am here for you , mama ! This should be a pleasant experience! Please let me know if you have any questions.
