I could literally write pages upon pages of this but I'll try to keep it short and sweet LOL.
First, we choose the style you're going for. I break things up into 3 categories. You want to pick the style that works best for your family and will make you feel comfortable.
I know you've probably heard photographers talk about just how much wardrobe matters. Hopefully this post helps you see the difference ! Don't forget the colors in the location you chose as well!
Classic & Clean
Keep it simple with 3 colors max. 2 of them will be nuetral and 1 will be a soft/muted color OR all nuetral colors. Use a pattern to pull things together. These will be clean and simple. This also works great in either studio set- traditional or lifestyle
Muted and Earthy
Use 3 or 4 colors- any mix of nuetrals and earthy, muted tones. I do not recommend stark white here. Try off white or cream instead. These will be cozy, soft and natural. This would work great for the lifestyle set in studio as well.
Bold and Fun
Use 3 or 4 colors- using 1 or 2 neutrals and 2 or 3 jewel tones. These will bold, colorful and fun. These work great for the lifestyle studio as well.
Other things to remember ...
-Coordinate > Matching I don't usually recommend matching outfits, but instead coordinating colors that go well together.
-Keep in mind the season, kids do not like to be too hot or too cold
-I recommend 1 pattern for every 2 or 3 solids- Texture is a great way to add interest too!
-Jeans and Khaki pants ARE a color (Jeans can be teal or navy blue depending on shade)
-I love any piece that will add movement to the session. Flowy dresses, cardigans, flare pants etc. Long, flowy dresses are usually extremely flattering as well.
-Keep shoes neutral. Avoid super sporty or characters
-Don't forget accessories!
-Please try to avoid sunburn/Fake tan before the session
Wardrobe Consults
Every session includes a wardrobe consult!
If you would like to use the client closet, just let me know everyone's sizes and what style you're leaning toward! You can come to the studio and try things on and we can talk face to face! Worried about size? Dont be. I have a very inclusive client closet.
If you prefer to buy your own clothing, thats totally okay too! I can still help. If you send me everyone's sizes, budget and style you prefer, I can send some wardrobe collages with options and recommendations!
Again, I am all about authetnic sessions. We will work together to find outfits that fit YOUR style while also photographing best!
